Motor encapsulation with resin
The advantages of encapsulating motors are numerous. Indeed, by casting the resin in a vacuum, it allows it to diffuse into the voids in the windings, which, combined with air, can cause partial discharges between the primary insulation and ground.
Encapsulating the motor allows for excellent electrical insulation combined with high thermal dissipation, as the hardened resin is an excellent thermal conductive material .
the encapsulation protects it from impacts, humidity, dust and chemical agents and guarantees superior mechanical stability as a structural reinforcement, reducing vibrations and noise from the motor itself.
potting process is used to completely fill a mechanical or electronic assembly with two-component thermosetting epoxy resins, polyurethanes, polybutadienes, or modified silicone resins.
Generally the resin is dosed in a plastic or metal box where the electronic unit is placed.
With encapsulation , on the other hand, the process involves creating a mold or frame around the object, filling the space between the frame and the object with a polyurethane, epoxy resin, or silicone. This also reduces its size, bringing the components closer together.
Applications
There are various Elantas epoxy resins, ideal for applications in the automotive, railway and marine sectors.
They are UL approved, flame retardant and self-extinguishing, as well as producing no emissions into the atmosphere during the polymerization process, leaving 100% of the product on the winding.
